Description: A magnificent cast iron Art Nouveau Fireplace Surround salvaged from a Greenwich Home dating from the late Victorian era. This has fine casting of Poppies to the frieze and jams, the whole surround has been hand burnished to enhance the moldings then lightly oiled to prtect the sheen

The Art Nouveau movement started in the early 1880's and came to an abrupt end on the eve of the 1st World War. It is characterized by organic, especially floral and other plant-inspired motifs, as well as highly-stylized, flowing curvilinear forms.
